An exhibition by the Northern Ireland artist Stephen Johnston runs until April 30 at Gormley’s fine art in Belfast. He places familiar objects in unfamiliar locations in a style that is modern and surrealistic. Thrones is an experimental body of work in preparation for the past four years.
An exhibition of 20 works by Andy Warhol and Keith Haring will run at Gormleys in Dublin from May 22 to June 13. Key works include Warhol’s monochrome Mickey Mouse (FS II.265) from his 1981 Myths portfolio and his 1987 Moonwalk, which depicts Neil Armstrong’s photograph of Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin Jr walking on the moon in 1969. The show will include Haring’s Medusa Head, one of the largest works he ever completed, measuring a huge 250 cm x 140 cm. and a series of his most iconic and sought after Pop Shop works
“Warhol and Haring had a unique friendship, with Warhol acting as a mentor to Haring,” said James Gormley. “This is a rare opportunity to see both artists work showcased together, and we have never had a substantial Haring exhibition in Ireland before.”
The largest collection of Banksy’s work exhibited in Ireland will feature at Art Source, at the RDS from November 15-17. Gormleys Fine Art will display 12 screen prints by the anonymous British-based artist. Over 15,000 people are expected to attend Art Source which features 200 contemporary Irish and international artists and galleries.
Iconic Irish sculptor Patrick O’Reilly will unveil new work including a standing wolfhound, a rocking horse and a series of dolls. Art Source showcases painting, sculpture, photography, illustration, prints and ceramic art.
