IMMA, DUBLIN
IMMA, the Irish Museum of Modern Art Ireland’s is national institution for modern and contemporary art. The permanent collection comprises around 2,500 works by 20th-century and contemporary Irish and international artists. www.modernart.ie
CRAWFORD GALLERY, CORK
THE Crawford Art Gallery, the city art museum for Cork, was formed in 1819. The collection numbers some 2,500 paintings sculptures, prints and other works of art. It is strongest in 20th century and contemporary Irish art. In 2006 ownership was transferred to the Office of Public Works, and the gallery designated a National Cultural Institution. GLUCKSMAN GALLERY, CORK
The Lewis Glucksman Gallery is located in a new building designed by O’Donnell and Tuomey which was shortlisted for the Stirling Prize in 2005. It is at the main entrance to University College Cork on Western Road near the city centre.. www.glucksman.org
THE HUNT MUSEUM, LIMERICK
One of Ireland’s greatest private collections of art and antiquities, dating from the Neolithic to the 20th Century, is housed here. The Hunt Museum collection includes works by Renoir, Picasso and Yeats.It is located at Rutland St., Limerick. www.huntmuseum.com
THE HUGH LANE GALLERY, DUBLIN
Dublin City Gallery, the Hugh Lane, houses modern and contemporary art. The gallery gained world wide recognition with the acquisition of the entire contents of Francis Bacon’s Reece Mews Studio in London from Bacon’s sole heir John Edwards.
