    IMPORTANT IRISH ART AT WHYTE’S AT THE RDS

    The Important Irish Art sale at Whyte’s at the RDS on Monday, November 28 at 6 p.m. will include a number of lots from the McClelland Collection.  Art from this collection boosted the last art sale at Whyte’s in September.  It grossed over 1.3 million and was the most successful art auction there since April 2008.  McClelland lots in this sale include works by Tony O’Malley (lots 67-79) ranging in estimate of 1,000 to 20,000, William Conor (lists 16 to 23) with some drawings modestly estimated at around 2,000-3,000 and paintings by Colin Middleton (lots 47-50) estimated at from 2,000-5,000.   The auction will include significant works by Paul Henry, Mary Swanzy, Dan O’Neill, Basil Blackshaw, Harry Kernoff and William Crozier.  Viewing gets underway tomorrow at the RDS.     ART FROM MCCLELLAND COLLECTION AT WHYTE’S SEPTEMBER SALE

    An array of art from the estate of George and Maura McClelland will feature at Whyte’s autumn auction of Irish & International Art at the RDS in Dublin on September 26.    Lots 1-78 in the sale are from the collection, which included some of the finest examples from the oeuvres of Gerard Dillon, Tony O’Malley, Louis le Brocquy, F.E. McWilliam, Colin Middleton, William Conor, Frank McKelvey, William Leech and many others.  The balance of the sale [a further 102 lots] includes several other major works by Ireland’s best-known artists including Jack B Yeats, Paul Henry, Walter Osborne, Dan O’Neill and Harry Kernoff.

    A total of 170 works donated from the McClelland’s now forms part of IMMA’s permanent collection.
