    A rare first edition of Ulysses by James Joyce sold for a hammer price of 9,500 at Fonsie Mealy’s sale of the Dr. Phillip Murray collection of first editions in Dublin today.  Lot 383 was no 533 of 750 copies of the limited first edition of the edition published in Paris by Shakespeare and Co. in 1922.  It had been estimated at 6,000-8,000. A complete set of Broadsides with hand coloured illustrations published by Dun Emer and Cuala Press by Jack B Yeats and others made a hammer of 8,200. A first edition of A Clockwork Orange signed by Anthony Burgess made 5,000, a collection of short stories by George Moore extensively corrected in his own hand made 6,700 and lot 408, a limited edition of poems by Oscar Wilde signed by Wilde made 3,600.  A rare signed copy of the first UK edition of To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee made 4,800 at hammer.

    The auction made 275,000 on the hammer with 85% of lots on offer sold.
