    SOLO SHOW BY EILIS O’CONNELL AT SOLOMON

    This 2021 unique Carrara marble sculpture by Eilis O’Connell entitled Thornmorph (maquette) is from Hardware / Software at the Solomon Gallery in Dublin until November 18. Working with materials like steel, bronze, stone and bio resins O’Connell explores material properties to make organic forms carved or constructed by hand.  The title of this solo show – borrowed from Jack Burnham’s 1974 publication Great Western Salt Works:  Essay’s on the meaning of Post-Formulist Art – refers to the dual aspects of an artist’s practice, physical and conceptual. The abstract watercolours on display mirror the sculpture. With an exhibition history that includes the Venice and Sao Paulo Biennales, the Guggenheim in Venice and E1027, the home designed by Eileen Gray in the South of France, O’Connell is one of our most internationally recognised contemporary artists,

    BRIDGET FLANNERY SHOW AT THE SOLOMON GALLERY

    An exhibition of richly coloured and textured new abstract work by Bridget Flannery entitled Terra Incognita runs at the Solomon Gallery in Dublin until February 4.  The Cork born artist, who graduated from the Crawford in 1981, has held numerous exhibitions throughout Ireland and Europe and has work in private and public collections including the OPW, The Crawford, UCC, Bank of Ireland, The Four Seasons Hotel Group and the Museum of Fine Art in Latvia.

    SCULPTURES BY VADIM TUZOV AT SOLOMON GALLERY

    VADIM TUZOV – REINDEER, bronze, edition of 3

    An exhibition of recent sculpture by Irish Ukrainian artist Vadim Tuzov opens at Solomon Gallery in Dublin tomorrow and runs until February 5. Tuzov attended a Junior School of Art, before going on to study drawing and sculpture at the National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture in Kiev. He began sculpting full-time in the late 80s and later moved to Ireland with his family, where he lives with his wife and two daughters.  He has his own studio and foundry in Co. Wicklow and casts and patinates his own work. This is his second show at Solomon.
