ANTIQUE OAK CARVED JACOBEAN CHAIR. UPDATE: THIS MADE 110 AT HAMMER
This oak Jacobean chair comes up at the fine interiors sale at Hegarty’s online in Bandon on November 1. The estimate is just 100-200 and includes cushions and covers in upholstery fabric from Haggastrand, Sweden. The online auction features Swedish furniture and Middle Eastern rugs from the private collection of a Swedish diplomat who retired to Ireland after serving in several countries in Asia, the Middle East and in the US and items from a Cork collection.
This 19th century rank badge, embroidered with silk thread on a dark ground, comes up as lot 50 at Hegarty’s online sale in Bandon. The Chinese tradition of wearing rank badges (Buzi), also known as Mandarin Squares, to demonstrate civil, military or imperial rank began in 1391 during the Ming Dynasty and continued throughout the Qing Dynasty up until 1911. A badge featuring a bird (such as the one here) identified the wearer as a civil official. It is estimated at 180-250. The sale gets underway online at 6 pm on August 31 and there are 260 lots.
This still live by Stella Steyn comes up as lot 27 at Hegarty’s spring art auction online from Bandon which runs until April 27. It is estimated at 420-520. There are 110 lots in total. Among the artists featured are John Schwatschke, Norman Teeling, Marie Doyle, Marie Carroll, Des Monroe, Douglas Alexander and Peter Knuttel.

This newly restored dwarf Georgian linen press is lot one at Hegarty’s auction in Bandon on March 6. There is antique furniture, art and jewellery pieces on offer including a yellow snake and moonstone pendant necklace, an Art Deco style diamond and ruby ring and a neatly sized secretaire bookcase with string inlay. THIS is an Irish Georgian economy dining table. Comprised of a fold over tea table, a double drop leaf table and a single drop leaf table it can function three ways. Fully extended it measures three metres in length. Each table is raised on ring turned legs with rounded pad feet. It comes up at Hegarty’s live online auction from Bandon, Co. Cork on October 10 with an estimate of €2,000-€3,000.
