    This large oil by Arthur Maderson comes up at Dolan’s timed online Irish art, whiskeys and antiques auction which runs online until March 4. There is art by Mark O’Neill, Charles Lamb, Patrick Hennessy, Cecil Maguire, Graham Knuttel, Harry Kernoff, John Brobel, Arthur Armstrong, Elizabeth Brophy, Peter Curling, Susan Cronin and many more artists along with a selection of Very Rare Midleton Whiskeys as well as coins, stamps and collectibles like a Victorian doll’s house modelled as a school house (900-1,200). The Maderson is estimated at 18,000-22,000.

Among the main lots in this online auction are Evening Glandore by Arthur Maderson (€2,500-€3,000), a pair of fold-over tea tables (€1,500-€2,000), a Georgian walnut library table (€1,000-1,500), an Edwardian inlaid card table (€800-€1,200) and a Regency sofa table (€700-€1,000).The selection of furniture includes a satinwood sewing table, a set of six Cork style chairs, an Edwardian walnut cellarette, an Irish Georgian side table, a William IV card table and a demi-lune commode.

    NOVEMBER SALE BY DOLAN’S ART AUCTION HOUSE IN LIMERICK

    There will be a varied selection of mostly paintings at Dolans sale of art and antiques in Limerick on November 24. The catalogue cover lot is by Arthur Madison and there is work by artists including John Brobbel, Carina Scott, Graham Knuttel, Sean Keating, Harry Kernoff, Kenneth Webb, John Behan. The sale will include a studio collection of Clare artist Michael Hanrahan, official artist for Queen Elizabeth’s visit to Ireland in 2011. There is a selection of antique furniture, rugs and collectibles. The sale is at Castletroy Park Hotel at 2 p.m. on November 24 with viewing from November 22.

    WOODWARDS OFFER A SMALL ATKINSON ON JUNE 18

    Woodwards will offer a small maritime painting by George Mounsey Wheatley Atkinson (1806-1884) at their auction in Cork on June 18.  HMS Conqueror off Queenstown (Cobh) is estimated at 5,000-8,000. There is a pair of watercolours of the Lakes of Killarney by Douglas Alexander and other art on offer includes At Tallow Horse Fair by Arthur Maderson.  Antique furniture includes a Georgian bureau bookcase, a Regency rosewood card table, an inlaid revolving bookcase, a Georgian sofa table, a long case clock, a Georgian chest of drawers, a large gilt mirror, an inlaid twin pillar dining table and a Victorian davenport.  A pair of cast iron garden vases, a five piece garden set and a pair of cast iron seats are seasonal offerings.

    Dolan’s will kick off the summer season with an art and antiques auction at Kelly’s Hotel in Rosslare May 1, bank holiday Sunday.  There is a varied collection of paintings, watercolours, prints, sculpture, antique furniture, silver, china, rugs and collectible items.  Artists featured include Norah McGuinness, Flora Mitchell, Kenneth Webb, Brian Ballard, Mark O’Neill, Arthur Maderson, Charles Harpur, Markey Robinson,  Carina Scott, Norman Teeling, Fergus O’Ryan and Frank Egginton.     MADERSON LEADS AT IRISH ART ONLINE AUCTION

    Arthur Maderson’s Le Marche de Nuit (The Night Market) was the top lot at Morgan O’Driscoll’s online auction of Irish art this week. It made 4,200 in an auction that was 90% sold.  John Behan’s Summer Birds, a unique bronze sculpture, sold for 3,000 and Coral Strand, Connemara by Kenneth Webb made 2,800.
