    PAUL MOSSE WINS 2018 SAVILL’S PRIZE

    An installation from Paul Mosse’s What’s With The Apocalypse exhibition.

    Paul Mosse, whose work features recycled materials, has won the 2018 Savill’s Prize awarded to the artist who has produced an outstanding body of work in the last year or made some other substantial contribution to the visual arts in Ireland.  The winner of the 5,000 prize has questioned the cyclical nature of decay and renewal for over 50 years and indeed time itself is one of his favourite elements.

    The winner was announced from a shortlist of five contenders at Vue 2018, Ireland’s national contemporary art fair at the Royal Hibernian Academy until November 4.. The other contenders were Claire Halpin, Janet Mullarney, Gordon Harris and Gabhann Dunne.

    Mosses What’s With The Apocalypse? exhibition was internationally acclaimed and cemented his reputation. “This award gives any artist the things they value most, approval and the time to produce more art,” he said. Part of a multi-talented family, the Aosdana member is a brother of ceramicist Nicholas and sculptor Tania, and an uncle of photographer and filmmaker Richard.

    ART FOR MOVEMBER FOUNDATION AT SOTHEBY’S

    D*Face, Shepard Fairey and Conor Harrington are among the artists who work is on display at Sotheby’s in London this month for the mens health charity the Movember Foundation.  Ten street artists have created agenda setting pieces aimed at nurturing open conversations surrounding men’s mental health and suicide prevention.

    The works are on view at Sotheby’s London galleries as part of the ‘Contemporary Curated’ exhibition. Proceeds from the sale  on November 20 will benefit the Movember Foundation and their dedicated investment in ground-breaking mental health programmes.
