    A pair of c1840 Irish side cabinets is the top lot at Lynes and Lynes in Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork on March 28.  The auction offers a good selection of realistically estimated antique furniture, including mirrors and seven chests of drawers, along with collectibles including old Cork Opera House programmes and old rugby match programmes. There is a Georgian stone plaque with the Hibernia harp dated to 1802 and a Georgian mahogany satinwood banded Irish side table estimated at just 300-500.  The catalogue is online.     RINGS, JEWELLERY AND SILVER AND O’REILLY’S OF FRANCIS ST., DUBLIN

    The jewellery and silver sale at O’Reilly’s of Francis St., Dublin on March 25 features a number of diamond rings in various price ranges.  The most expensively estimated, at 80,000-90,000, is an early 20th century diamond ring of 8.02 carats. A coloured diamond solitaire has an estimate of  75,000-85,000.  There is a selection of diamond rings and other coloured stones in much more affordable ranges, with plenty available at under 1,000.  The catalogue is online.  Here is a small selection.

    More than 400 lots of 18th, 19th and 20th century Irish and English silver from a private collection will come under the hammer at James Adam in Dublin on March 25.  The collection is dominated by the work of the London silversmith William Comyns (1836-1916).  The catalogue is online.     PICASSO AND MATISSE FROM GOLDWYN COLLECTION IN HOLLYWOOD

    Art collected by Hollywood legends Samuel Goldwyn senior and junior will be sold by Sotheby’s across a series of auctions this year. Samuel Goldwyn Senior (1879-1974) assembled a core group of works from the 1940’s through to the 1960’s with standout pieces by Picasso and Matisse. Samuel Goldwyn junior (1926-2015) added to the collection, with work by David Hockney, Milton Avery, Diego Rivera and others. More than 25 works from the collection, with a combined estimate of more than $25 million, will be offered starting in New York on May 5 at the evening sale of Impressionist and Modern art. Work from the collection will also feature in sales of Contemporary Art in New York on May 12 and 13,  American Art on May 20, Latin American Art on May 26-27, Impressionist and Modern Art on May 28 and at the sale of Modern and Post War British Art in London on June 9 and 10.

    DE VERES FIRST ART AUCTION AT NEW KILDARE ST. SPACE

    The first auction at de Veres new space in Kildare St., Dublin takes place on March 24. It will feature 92 lots of Irish art.  The renovation at Kildare St. will enable de Veres to conduct more select auctions of Irish Art and Contemporary furniture.     LARGEST AUCTION OF SOUTHEAST ASIAN ART EVER AT SOTHEBY’S

    The largest Southeast Asian art auction ever held at Sotheby’s promises to be a highlight of the Spring 2015 sales series in Hong Kong. More than 250 lots of Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian art will come under the hammer on April 4 and 5. The sale is led by modern Indonesian and Filipino masterpieces: Hendra Gunawan’s Pandawa Dadu (The Dice Game from the Mahabharata Epic), one of only two large-format works on the Hindu epic by the artist ever to appear in the market, and Muslim Betrothal by Carlos Villaluz Francisco.
