Robilant + Voena will present Piglet Goes Shopping by Keith Haring at TEFAF New York from May 6-10. A first look at the fair has just been released, with 15 works from the upcoming event offering a glimpse into the quality, breadth, and depth of artworks available from 91 dealers. Among them is work by Modigliani, Picasso, Giorgio Morandi, Richard Diebenkorn, Kehinde Wiley, Pierre Soulages, Francois-Xavier Lalanne and Cy Twombly. The fair, at the Park Avenue Armoury, has been widely recognised for introducing new ways of looking at, thinking about, and experiencing art.
Among the highlights at The Winter Show which opens in New York today is this unique tapestry designed by Alexander Calder and woven in the Cauquil-Prince workshop in Paris. It is being show by Boccara Gallery of New York, the leading gallery specialising in modern and antique tapestry. The postponed fair, which runs until April 10, is at 660 Madison Avenue, the former flagship location of Barney’s. More than 60 exhibitors are spread over four floors in the building. Among them are Aronson of Amsterdam, Daniel Crouch Rare Books, Hirschl and Adler Galleries, Hyde Park Antiques, Koopman Rare Art, Richard Green, Ronald Phillips and Veronique Bamps of Monaco. On show is a collection of museum-quality works that span art, antiques, and design, from antiquities to contemporary art.
Contemporary Irish art, jewellery, antique furniture, vintage re-designs, silver and collectibles will rub shoulders at the Kingsley Hotel in Cork today and tomorrow. All the fun of the fair is guaranteed to mark the return of Hibernian Antique Fairs – after several failed attempts – with their first live event in Cork in more than two years. The Cork fair has always been a draw and the hope this time is that absence has made the heart grow fonder. Organiser Robin O’Donnell promises a full house with dealers from far and wide including some new ones.
Regulars making a welcome return include Irish Antique Dealers Association members like James Weldon silver and jewellery, Treasures Irish Art and Courtville Antiques. Among the newcomers are Cork Antiques, Midleton, James O’Hare fine art, Pauline Shields militaria and Richard Walshe coins and banknotes. One newcomer sure to create a stir is Agness Vintage Redesigns. In an era when there is zilch interest in the lower end of the ordinary brown furniture market this fledgling company founded by Agness Meehan will repurpose, upcycle, transform and make beautiful old Edwardian and Victorian pieces that might otherwise be in danger of being dumped in a skip. What’s not to like?
Brian Hurley from Kinsale will exhibit a plate from the Cork Mansion House Service, designed by the renowned Cork based architect George Richard Pain (1793 to 1838), who was a pupil of John Nash. There will be vintage rugs at Annamoe Antiques and Eily Henry will offer a collection of vintage fashion.
For the first time since 2019, TEFAF New York is hosting an in-person fair–and it is anticipated to be as exceptional as ever. This year 91 distinguished galleries from around the world will participate presenting modern and contemporary art, jewellery, antiquities, and design. TEFAF New York will be at the Park Avenue Armory from May 6-10. The 2022 lineup comprises 78 returning dealers, and 13 dealers exhibiting for the first time. The National Antiques Art and Vintage fair is back and it is taking place in Limerick today and tomorrow. Reaction to the event has been phenomenal. There is no doubt, according to organiser Robin O’Donnell of Hibernian Antique Fairs, that people are bursting to get back to normality. There will be furniture, art, silver, jewellery, vintage fashion, porcelain, glass, books and all sorts of collectibles on display. Exhibitors include members of the Irish Antique Dealers Association like James Weldon, Courtville Antiques, Martin Maguire, Marie Curran, Treasures Athlone, Rory Byrne Donegal Antiques and Greene’s Antiques. This national Limerick based fair at the South Court Hotel is normally a crowd puller and usually draws people from Cork, Kerry, Galway, Tipperary, the Midlands and beyond. Doors are open from 11 am to 6 pm on both days.

In the unlikely event you may not have noticed it will be Valentine’s Day next Monday. James Weldon will bring this array of rings to the National Antiques, Art and Vintage Fair at the South Court Hotel in Limerick on February 12 and 13. Mr. Weldon will be in attendance on Sunday only, but never fear. There will be a great selection of antique furniture, art, silver, jewellery, vintage fashion, porcelain, glass, books and collectibles on display.
The European Fine Art Foundation (TEFAF) has announced new dates for the the 35th anniversary edition of TEFAF Maastricht. It will take place from June 25 – June 30, 2022 at the MECC. Originally scheduled as usual for March, TEFAF Maastricht was postponed in December due to mounting concerns around COVID-19.
TEFAF Chairman, Hidde van Seggelen, says: “This was a complex situation which required the input and flexibility of many different individuals and organisations to enable us to reschedule TEFAF Maastricht. We are proud to join several other leading art fairs in June for a key moment in the art world calendar this year. This will be an exciting revival of TEFAF Maastricht in its 35th anniversary edition and an opportunity to once again bring together the world’s leading collectors and art lovers to meet, experience, and appreciate the rich art history for which TEFAF is known.”
In what can be hailed as a welcome return to normality of a sort Ireland’s biggest antique fair for a long time is underway this weekend at the South Court Hotel in Limerick. Visitors are advised to bring their Covid certificates and to wrap up warmly as there will be plenty of ventilation. There is an array of art, furniture, old Irish glass and collectibles of every sort.

Excitement is building about the first post lockdown antique fair which takes place over three days at the South Court Hotel in Limerick from Friday, October 22, the hoped for day when restrictions are due to come to an end. Dealers from right around the island of Ireland who have been unable to display their wares during lockdown have scrambled to get in.New to this fair will be a range of antique furniture and jewellery including French furniture from Co. Tipperary based Nevil Dukes, Raven stamps of Cork and Persian and Turkish rugs from Annamoe Antiques, Co. Wicklow. An array of antique furniture, Irish art, silver, coins, vintage items, militaria, porcelain and collectibles will be on display. The last physical as distinct from virtual fair organised by Hibernian Antique Fairs was in Co. Roscommon on February 29 and March 1, 2020 and the hope is that this fair will release much pent up demand.

This Portrait of a Man in Armour, presented by Caretto & Occhinegro at TEFAF Online was acquired by Groeningemuseum, Belgium. Over the course of six days collectors and institutions, including some of the world’s most eminent museums gathered online to learn, discuss, and buy work at the top levels of the international market. Nicolaas Teeuwisse OHG sold Tabula Cebetis(c1550), by the Venetian School, to Rijksprentenkabinet, Amsterdam. A Groeningemuseum, Belgium, acquired Caretto & Occhinegro’s Portrait of a Man in Armour (c1560), attributed to Gillis Claeissens. Scene in an Italian Country Inn, Possibly a Self-Portrait of the Artist with Her Husband on Their Wedding Trip (1821/25), by Hortense Haudebourt-Lescot, presented by Gallery 19C, was acquired by The Clark Art Institute, Williamstown, Massachusetts. Among many other notable sales a leading Eastern European museum purchased Rococo-Écuelle with Présentoir and Spoon (1751-53) from Helga Matzke.
