  • COMPLETE EXAMPLE OF DEALER’S SEMINAL PORTFOLIO

The only known complete example of Les Peintures-Gravures published by the legendary art dealer Ambroise Vollard comes up at Sotheby’s in London on September 17. It features a magnificent example of Edvard Munch’s first ever colour lithograph alongside 21 prints by his contemporaries including Bonnard, Vuillard, Redon and Renoir. One of the most important art dealers and publishers of the 20th century, Ambroise Vollard was largely responsible for the validation of lithography as an art form, as well as the propagation of the greatest Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists. Issued in Paris in 1896 the work is estimated at £500,000-1,000,000.
