  • TURNING £35 INTO £250,000

    A painting purchased for £35 from Sir Alfred Munnings some time before 1916 comes up at Bonhams in London on January 22 with an estimate of £150,000-250,000.  The Fair is one of the highlights of the 19th century paintings sale at New Bond St.  Two further paintings by Munnings feature in the sale. Grey mare and chestnut foal (£50,000-70,000) and Calling them in (£40,000-60,000).  At The Park Gate by John Atkinson Grimshaw, an artist known for his night scene paintings, is another highlight.  It is estimated at £150,000-£200,000.
