The hottest lot at Morgan O’Driscoll’s sale of Irish and British art was Jack Yeats’ Hot Weather Hot Day. The small oil on board, which was originally given as a gift by the artist to the wife of his brother William and stayed in the family through inheritance before becoming part of Theo Waddington’s Irish art project and entering a private collection in Dublin, sold for 27,500 at hammer. It measures just 7″ x 11″.
The Olive Pickers by Patrick Swift sold for 15,500 and William Conor’s Local Banter on a Sunny Morningsold for 11,000. The auction brought in 273,000 at hammer and 73% of lots on offer sold.
