The new windows by Irish artist Hughie O’Donoghue were installed in the 16th century Lady Chapel at Westminster Abbey in time for the celebration marking the 60th anniversary of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in Westminster Abbey in London today.
The blue and gold windows replace those shattered by a bomb during the Second World War. The windows cast light on the tombs of Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots. The chapel was commissioned by Henry VII. These are O’Donoghue’s first stained glass window designs.
