A Chinese Blue and White Shep Vase.
A Chinese blue and white vase sold for 740,000 at Sheppards in Durrow on July 17. It had been estimated at just 800-1,200. It went to a Paris based buyer.
The Qing double gourd vase had come from a Dublin based vendor. It was the top lot at Sheppards sale of Chinese ceramics and works of art. The sale had been on view at Kilkenny Castle.
In 2010 a 12 inch high Ming style pear shaped Chinese vase with an asking price of just 150 made 110,000 at a sale in Sheppards. It turned out to be an authentic vase from the Imperial House in the Forbidden City.
