Irish authors are well represented at the sale of the Dr. Phillip Murray collection of modern first editions by Fonsie Mealy Auctioneers at the Gresham Hotel in Dublin on July 12. It includes about 2,200 American and British first editions, with about 75% either signed or inscribed. There are plenty of examples of signed first editions by writers like Kevin Barry, John Banville, Aidan Higgins, Neil Jordan, Colm Toibin and Desmond Hogan. From Jaws to the Ballroom of Romance and A Clockwork Orange to Casino Royale the 580 lot auction promises something for all readers and collectors.
