  • HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL ADAMS SALE AT SLANE

    Among the top lots at the highly successful annual Country House Collections sale by James Adam  at Slane Castle on October 13 was an Irish George II Booker mirror (60,000 at hammer) and an Irish Regency three pillar dining table by Morgan of Dublin (38,000).  An Irish William IV bookcase attributed to Mack, Williams and Gibton sold for 33,000, an George III breakfront bookcase sold for 30,000 at hammer and an Italian white carved marble group attributed to Ferdinando Vichi, Florence made 25,000.  A George III triple folding games table sold for 20,000, a Killarney wood breakfast table made 17,000 and a late George II desk attributed to William Vile sold for 16,000.

    A portrait of Arthur Guinness  II by Martin Cregan made 32,000, a pair of George III style carved gilt wood mirrors made 15,000. A shepherdess with her flock by Jacob Roos called Rosa da Napoli sold for 18,000 and a George III four post bed with painted canopy sold for 11,000.  The sale realized over 1.3 million with 70% of lots finding buyers.
