An 1825 Cork silver freedom box with considerable history behind it comes up at the James Adam Sunday Interiors sale in Dublin on March 8. It was awarded with the freedom of the city of Cork to Vice-Admiral Robert Plampin (1762-1834), who served in the American and French Revolutionary Wars, guarded Napoleon on St. Helena and commanded the Irish Squardron in Cork. Made by Richard Garde it is estimated at 8,000-12,000. An Irish George III c1770 silver centrepiece with the marks of George Mullin is estimated at 12,000-16,000.
