A specimen wood table attributed to the pioneer of the Gothic Revival style A.N.W. Pugin (1812-1852) comes up at Fonsie Mealy’s Chatsworth Fine Art sale in Castlecomer on October 7.
There is a selection of specimen woods, an unusual mechanism and a variety of secret drawers.
Pugin designed a number of buildings in Ireland including Maynooth College and churches and cathedrals in Killarney, Enniscorthy and Tralee. This table comes from the collection of a religious order and is estimated at 4,000-6,000.
