Jack Yeats and Gerard Dillon provided the top lots in a fairly solid sale of Important Irish Art at James Adam in Dublin last night. The sale realised 1.5 million, the best result at Adams this year, and there was no shortage of bidders for good, fresh to the market works of Irish art. In this recession there is no silliness in the market, but the result suggests the beginning of a recovery. Just under 80 per cent of lots on offer sold.
There was much interest in and good prices for artists like Paul Henry, Dan O’Neill, William Conor, Estella Solomons, Harry Kernoff, Tony O’Malley, John Shinnors and Nathanial Hone. Click on either image to enlarge.
