Antique furniture, works of art and decorative art from Irish country houses will feature at the James Adamauction at Slane Castle on October 9. Adams say the 700 lot sale offers something for everyone with prices ranging from 30 euro up to 30,000. The emphasis is on fine furniture of Irish interest alongside silver, glass, porcelain and pictures. Many items are from old Irish families including the Huguenot Lefroys of Carrigglas Manor in Co. A George IV mahogany centre table with marble top from Carrigglas Manor, Co. Longford. It was given to celebrate the completion of Carrig Glas Manor by the Italian branch of the family who owned the Carrara marble quarries. The black and grey striated marble used is a particularly rare outcrop of the deposit. UPDATE: THIS WAS UNSOLD
