  • CHINESE JARDINIERE THE TOP LOT AT SLANE CASTLE AUCTION

This 18th century jardiniere made 30,000 at Adams, Slane Castle.

An 18th century Chinese blue and white jardiniere made 30,000 to become the top lot at the James Adam Country House Collections auction at Slane Castle on October 9. Around 65 per cent of lots on offer were sold and the auction brought in 800,000 at hammer and around the million mark when fees are added. There was a large number of telephone bids but internet connectivity around Slane Castle is insufficiently strong for internet bidding. See post on antiquesandartireland.com for October 5, 2012.  Some other top lots are as follows (click on any image to enlarge it):

A pair of Irish George II waiters, Dublin c1735, mark of William Suttons made 9,000.

An Irish School c1800 wooded landscape made 9,500.

A 17th century Flemish wool tapestry made 10,200.

An early Victorian ebon and boulle davenport made 17,000.

This George II walnut secretaire tallboy made 18,000.
