A pair of marquetry commodes by the Czech born French based cabinet maker Francois Linke, who had a shop at Place Vendome in Paris prior to the 2nd World War, come up at Sheppards three day sale in Durrow, Co. Laois on April 29, 30 and on May 1. Linke received the Gold Medal for his Grand Bureau at the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1900. His work is much sought after.
The commodes, each with a Breccia marble top, are estimated at 140,000-180,000. They are 76 cms wide. Around 1950 lots of period furniture, fine art, decorative art and Asian art will come under the hammer.
