A set of 12 early 19th century Williams and Gibton dining chairs made a hammer price of 14,500 at a successful sale by Fonsie Mealy Auctioneers in Castlecomer on October 8. This was the top lot in a sale which realised more than 350,000. A mid 19th century Italian micro mosaic, Pliny’s Doves, sold for 8,800 at hammer and and a French ormolu mounted bureau in the manner of Jean Henri Riesener made 7,600. A Dublin Victorian horse coach sold for 3,600, a large Donegal carpet made 6,000 and an early 18th century painting, King William and General Schomberg at Carrickfergus made 6,600.
