The Adam’s sale of nearly 500 lots of fine period furniture and decorative arts brought in €250,000 on Tuesday, April 13. A total of 65% of lots sold.
The top lot was a portrait of Vera Wandesforde by Edwin Swan which made €14,000, more than ten times its top estimate. There was 10,500 for an allegorical oil (Circle of Jacopo da Ponta Bassano) and €7,500 for A Study of a Satyr, Style of Jusepe de Ribera.
Furniture highlights included a mahogany longcase clock by Evans of Handsworth which sold for 4,600, and an Irish Georgian silver table which made 4,000. Top silver lots included a pair of Irish George III rococo loving cups at 2,700 and a pair of London George II salvers at 1,900.
