    This Art Deco diamond target ring is estimated at 18,000-22,000. (click on image to enlarge)  UPDATE:  THIS MADE 16,000 AND WAS THE TOP LOT IN THE SALE.
    These are some lots from the next auction at O’Reilly’s of Francis St., Dublin which takes place on June 22.  The sale features 497 lots (the catalogue is on-line) including  diamond rings, bracelets, an opal and diamond pendant, Art Deco jewellery, antique gold jewellery and coins, watches by Rolex, Cartier, Piaget and Omega. There is also some antique silverware, collectables, furniture and paintings.

    Meanwhile the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum has launched a novel Facebook application for jewellery enthusiasts.  It enables the user to virtually try on 28 pieces from the “Set in Style: The Jewelry of Van Cleef & Arpels” exhibition, on view at the New York museum until July 4.
    They see it as an innovative way to reach new audiences.
    The app, available at http://www.facebook.com/cooperhewitt, enables the user  to dress a photo with a work from the exhibition. Included are necklaces, brooches, earrings and a tiara worn by Princess Grace of Monaco.

    ANTIQUE AND MODERN JEWELLERY AT O’REILLY’S, DUBLIN

    Antique and modern jewellery comes up at O’Reilly’s sale at Francis St., Dublin on May 25.  There are diamond solitaires, Art Deco diamond target rings, a large amethyst and diamond pendant, retro gold jewellery, a sapphire and diamond cluster pendant, a diamond necklace, bracelets and earrings.
    The 415 lot sale features some antique silver as well as paintings and collectables.
    UPDATE: This was a good sale, aided by strong global prices for gold and silver.  In the current market those with money to spend expect exceptional value.  The focus is on what an individual piece is worth.
    An antique three stone diamond ring made 12,800,  a 2.40 carat diamond solitaire ring sold for 12,600, a two carat oval diamond solitaire made  9,200, a diamond line bracelet sold for 6,000 as did a 1.09 carat diamond solitaire and an emerald and diamond line bracelet made 4,800.

    These are some of the lots that feature at the O’Reilly’s auction at Francis St., Dublin on Wednesday, March 2.  The sapphire and diamond cluster ring is estimated at 17,000-18,000, the target ring is estimated at 6,500-7,500, the amethyst and diamond brooch is estimated at 1,200-1,500 and the Art Deco diamond and sapphire plaque brooch is estimated 4,500-5,000.

    The sale features around 290 lots of jewellery as well as silver and fine art.

    TIFFANY DIAMONDS AT O’REILLY’S, FRANCIS ST., DUBLIN

    This Tiffany diamond dress ring from 1964 on the left is one of the highlights at the first 2011 jewellery sale at O’Reilly’s of Francis St., Dublin.  The sale takes place on Wednesday, February 2 at 1 p.m.  The ring, complete with its original receipt, is estimated at 10,000-12,000.

    It features antique and modern jewellery.  The example on the right is a Victorian mourning brooch dating from around 1870.  It is mounted in gold with a seed pearl surround and estimated at 700-800 euro.

    The 319 lots sale includes engagement rings, diamond solitaires, a three stone diamond ring,  bracelets, pendants, earrings, watches and gold jewellery.  There is a small selection of Irish antique and later silver along with collectables and paintings.
