    DESIGN AND ART AT DE VERES IN DUBLIN

    A set of six tulip chairs by Eero Saarinen. UPDATE: THESE MADE 3,000 AT HAMMER

    Design furniture, lighting and contemporary art will come under the hammer at a timed online auction by de Veres which runs until the evening of May 23.  Classic pieces include a set of six Tulip chairs by renowned Finnish American architect Eero Saarinen and Egg (€3,000-€5,000) and Swan (€600-€900) chairs by Arne Jacobsen, one of the most significant figures in Danish design history. The 150 lot sale features a large selection of carefully chosen art by Charlie Tyrrell, Chung Eon-Mo, Cecil King, le Corbusier, Andy Warhol, William Scott, Mark Francis and many other Irish and international artists whose work will fit easily into a Modernist setting.  There are Danish and Italian pieces from the 1960’s, ’70’s and ’80’s along with contemporary labels like Roche Bobois and Ligne Roset.  The auction is on view at de Veres from today and the catalogue is online.

    A set of 13 masquerade costumes by Harry Kernoff UPDATE: THIS MADE 9,000 AT HAMMER

    Irish art sales continue their merry way at de Vere’s in Dublin on October 11.  There is art by Sean McSweeney, Charles Brady, Tony O’Malley,  Anne Yeats, Markey Robinson, Brian Maguire, Gerard Dillon and many others among 170 lots on the catalogue. A set of 13 masquerade costumes by Harry Kernoff is, at €8,000-€12,000 the most expensively estimated lot. A nude by Donald Teskey is estimated at €6,000-€9,000 and a landscape by Dan O’Neill is estimated at €5,000-€7,000. A wooden sculpture of an Irish dancer by Oisin Kelly is estimated at €1,000-€2,000. All price points are catered for and estimates range from €100-€12,000.

    Frattini desk c1960. UPDATE: THIS MADE 2,400 AT HAMMER

    This rosewood c1960 Model 530 desk by Gianfranco Frattini for Bernini is lot 17 at de Veres art and design auction which runs online until May 24. The sale is on view from today in Dublin. The desk is estimated at 1,500-2,500. The sale features Danish and Italian furniture and lighting by some of the major designers of the 20th Century including Arne Vodder, Arne Jacobsen, Finn Juhl, Niels Moller, le Corbusier, major labels Desede, Roche Bobois, B + B Italia and Cassina. There is art by Felim Egan, Robert Ballagh, Martin Gale, Terry Frost, Barrie Cooke, William Crozier and a variety of other artists.

    A HOUSE SALE BY DE VERES AT KILLINEY

    Around 350 lots will come under the hammer when de Veres auction the contents of Ballybrack House, Killiney, Co. Dublin on December 3 at 3 p.m. Racing art in the auction include a selection of paintings by Peter Curling, hunting and Snaffles prints and a bronze bust of Lester Piggott by Gary Trimble.
