  • THE COLLECTION OF A PRINCE AT MEALY’S SUMMER SALE

    Fine and decorative art, antiques, garden furniture, statuary and interiors will feature at Mealy’s summer sale in Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny on May 30.  The auction of 700 lots will include the collection of the late Prince and Princess Guirey, who had a home at Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath.  His title is a Khanate of the Crimea, formed in 1449 as an independent state by clans of the Mongolian Golden Horde.  Among his ancestors are Haci Giray first ruler of the region, believed to be a descendent in the 11th generation of Genghis Khan (1162-1227) founder of the Mongol Empire. She was daughter of Lady Omerod of Nassau in the Bahamas and the late Frederick Sigrist, aviation pioneer and one of the founders of Hawker Siddeley.  The catalogue is online.
